The action takes place at a time in history when Typhon, a monstrous serpentine giant, escapes the mountain where Zeus imprisoned him, and decides to enact his vengeance by stealing the other Gods’ powers. Immortals Fenyx Rising makes Greek mythology its setting. And third, much like in Biomutant, the player’s character in Immortals Fenix Rising also gets a companion, except that instead of a grasshopper, the player gets a bird named Phosphor. Second, the player gets to explore a huge open world consisting of seven regions. Immortals Fenyx Rising is similar to Biomutant in a couple of ways.įirst, the player gets a lot of freedom to customize their own character. This one is one of my favorite games on this list. If you still haven’t played this masterpiece of a game, we serious suggest you grab Breath of the Wild ASAP. Much like in Biomutant, Breath of the Wild has a vast open-world, that players can explore freely, whilst collecting items, doing side quests, and solving puzzles and riddles. To be fair, Breath of the Wild influenced almost every open world game to come after it, including some of the games on this list. The mysteries and puzzles the game throws at you are pretty serious too, so prepare to flex your brainpower.Īnother game that heavily influenced Biomutant is obviously The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game might seem a bit childish because of the art style and characters, but don’t be fooled, Ghost of a Tale has a mature story, and the gameplay is very engaging. The story revolves around a brave mouse called Tilo, who goes on a special mission to save the world from an event that killed many creatures and brought them back as a zombie army. Ghost of a Tale is a great game set in a medieval world inhabited by all sorts of intelligent animals, such as frogs, mice, crabs, and spiders. The Rather & Clank games are more about pure fun and adventure, so they are a great alternative if you want to unplug from Biomutant‘s morality system and repetitive crafting and combat loop. You can tell where that inspiration went, from the design of the characters which definitely resembles that of Ratchet & Clank, to the game’s world which is inhabited by a mix of adorable animals with robotic features.īiomutant’s story is a bit more mature, and its aesthetic a bit darker and less cartoony. According to Experiment 101’s studio head, Stefan Ljungqvist, Biomutant took inspiration from many games, and the Ratchet & Clank series is definitely a part of that list.
